Team: U9 Boys Blue Knights Silver
Coach: Dot Verbrugge
Our season started over Labor Day weekend when we participated in the Mayor's Cup as a brand new team. We gained a lot of experience from the tournament games, improving with each competition. Despite having never played together before and being unexpectedly aligned in the "B" division, we pulled out a few wins and had some close competitive games during the fall season, finishing 3-1-6. We continued to learn and develop an understanding of positioning and tactics, and we scored some excellent goals, had moments of brilliant plays, and came together as a team. Most of all, though, we had fun, and are expecting more to come.

Utah lost a talented soccer player and a good man Monday morning. Jose Ceballos was valued as a soccer player, teammate, friend, mentor, son, brother, and person. Jose played for the last 4 years with Blue Knights Premier U18 boys and was a significant part of the three consecutive State Cup Championships. He played with USA for four years before that and played in the State Cup Final with that team as well. In addition, Jose has played on the Copper Hills HS Soccer Team. Many players and coaches on the field knew him as “that fast blur on the left side”. Jose was known for his speed and talent as a left wing and striker. He was also admired for his sportsmanship and fair, humble play. When Jose scored, his first comment would be a humble “nice pass” to his teammate. Jose was quiet but this quality never diminished from his determination, kindness, and passion for soccer.
